and the English (except for the past couple of years) “have acted as if they did not care about these people, as long as business was good”.Perhaps it might be suggested to Mr.Pelletier that while there may be some validity in his points, the Rotarians who were now able ta make trips to Florida etc, haven't reached the status through participating in pitched-battles with police on Victoria Day.Field of Honor Service Sunday The Last Post Fund com- ceremony will be held at the ‘Field of Honour' in Pointe Claire Sunday, May 30th at 3 p.m, YOU SAY These subway costs figures 24th May, 1965 Sir: On two occasions you carried editorials asking the City of Westmount to explain, why though it promised to contribute the sum of $75,000 to the City of Montreal it finally finished by paying up $300,000?As I have seen no answer to this question, which, I am sure would have interested ALL residents of Westmount, I can only doubtfully hope that it may be forthcoming in a not too distant future.V.Skerl, EDITOR'S NOTE: Aldermar I.S.Backler outlined the figures involved in the two sets of figures in a speech to the WMA May 18.As reported in The Examiner, his explanation follows: ‘’Fhe forecast of annual debt service for construction of the Metro was then $8% million — the amortization of the cost of rolling stock was $2 million and the interest cost on this rolling stock was $1% million making a total debt figure of $12 million. At that time an operational profit of $10 million was considered feasible. This would have left a net deficit of $2 million annually.Based on comparative assessed taxable valuations in 1964, the City of Westmount's share of this debt was 3.52% — or $70,000.Taking into account a possible increase in the cost of labor and materials, the figure was set at a total of $75,000.‘Later, however there was a change in the method of eal- culating the debt service, as a result of a decision to assign Metro operations to the Montreal Transportation Commission. The Montreal Transportation Commission then became responsible for the capital, cost and debt service of the rolling stock and was therefore granted the revenue from operations. The City of Montreal became responsible only for the debt service for the cost of constructing the subway, an amount currently estimated at $8,350,000 for 1965.‘“Westmount's percentage of the debt was calculated at 4.25%.This figure was based on the comparative taxable valuations for both cities as approved by the Quebec Municipal Commission.Applying this percentage to the construction cost debt, resulted in a figure of approximately $350,000 as Westmount's fair share.( | If you're asking yourself This message might provide a pasitive answer.a major purchase costs more than you want to spend, the Bank of Montreal Family Finance Plan might well be the difference between having it to enjoy and going without.YOU CAN BAIWE ALL YOUR CREDIT NEEDS UNDER ONE ROOF.The Bank of Montreal Family Finance Plan is the modern, economical way to take care of all your credit needs without putting a heavy strain on your pay cheque. It puts cash in your hands for a new automobile, washing machine, TV set, wardrobe for your family — or for meeting emergencies and recurring commitments, vou ea Bonnow Up ro 13500 am TAKE w re TONES YEARS T8 REPAY.Many people don’t know you can walk into any branch of the Bank of Montreal and arrange a large personal loan.Depending on your income, you can obtain up to $3500 or even more. And you can repay your loan within three years through regular monthly payments geared to your income, Interest is low.All FFP loans are automatically life-insured to protect your family. The manager of your nearest B of M branch can tel you more about the Family Finance Plan, See him today and be sure to ask for the free informative booklet: “How to Live on Your Income and Enjoy It".BANK OF MONTREAL Canadai Pit Bank pe BRANCHES in WESTMOUNT to serve you Westmount Branch: Greene & Western Aves.JOHN S.ENGLAND, Manager Claremont Ave.& Sherbrooke St.FREDERICK H.PETERS, Manager AGE] HAMER DENY.::, WHY SUFFER?Mow fast and easy with the INTERNATIONAL Mow an acre an hour — with ease.Dozens of sttachments.Get a real tractor, built to work and built to last, by International Harvester.Convenient budget terms.36" snowblower 800 lb.capacity traiter INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER Company of Canada Limited 5620 Ferrier St.TOWN OF MOUNT ROYAL Phone: RE.1-7861 recitals to aid Kinsmen are off fo The Kinsmen Club of Montreal is sponsoring the recitals | DANCIN | G and the KEEVEN ACADEMY OF MUSIC | Saturday, at St.Phillips Memorial Hall, 3400 Connaught, : Montreal West and at Westhill High Auditorium, Draper | avenue (N.D.G.) on Friday, June 18, at 8 p.m.|! 33, MLLINOIS Subject : FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE “And now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love’ (1 Cor.13:13).St.Paul had been discussing, in 1 Cor.13, some of the miraculous signs that were to vanish away as God's revelation became complete. But faith, hope and love, he declared, would abide as a tri- une evidence of true Christianity. These three are all we need in the present ‘dispensation of the grace of God.’ Any church where faith, hope and love are found in full measure is a ‘‘full” church. It may have but a few members, but what greater blessing could it wish for than faith, hope and love in abundant measure?Faith, hope and love are a trinity often referred to in St.Paul's epistles. Each is of primary im- tures to each Confirmant in recognition of their confirmation.Dr.and Mrs.Stern, as has been their custom through the ycars will be at home on Saturday after: noon, June 4th.NEWS ABOUT MEMBERSHIP DRIVE: Under two.Faith is of primary importance.“Without faith it is impossible to please God” (Heb.11:6), and how can there be hope and love without faith?Hope holds the central place among these three.Hope in the Bible is more than a wish, it is the opposite of despair, an eager anticipation of blessings to come.Hope is the Christian's experience, his living with eternity's glory in view.Love is the crowning glory of the three; it is the fruit of faith and hope, and is greatest in the sense that it is “the bond of perfectness.”” Moreover, love is eternal for some day for every truc believer, ‘Faith will vanish into sight; hope be emptied in delight” and love will reign su- preme.Clinical Day The Jewish General Hospital is holding a ‘‘Clinical
