Div Périodiques taires, 3e étage UAH SOINS MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS 2013 0001 \u2014\u2014 Mayoral races in Huntingdon and Hinchinbrooke P7 QUÉBECOR Média Monday, October 7, 2013 N°40 24 pages $1.30 plus taxes Music, music everywhere: Festival has another great year A change of venue this year did not change the success the Branches and Roots Music Festival has seen in recent years.The festival was held September 27 to 29 at Café Namasthé, Chateauguay Valley Regional High School and the Ormstown Presbyterian Church.CHANTAL HORTOP cnantai hortop@quebecormeda com \u201cIt was a big change\u201d using three different venues instead of all events being held at the Ormstown fairgrounds, says Stewart Burrows, one of the organizers of the festival, \u201cbut it worked out really, really well.\u201d He says that wonderful partnerships have been forged with the new locales, and that those \u201cpartnerships will be around for a long time.\u201d The weekend kicked off with Rik Palieri playing at Cafe Namasthé on Friday night, a time and place that was already very well-known for wonderful music.Ât each venue, the organizers made sure to plug the next venue, and Burrows says that people seemed curious to check out a new setting the following day He added that he did not hear one negative comment about the shows moving around from day to day.Saturday was a day filled with excitement: not only was there an impressive evening lineup, there were all kinds of activities going on throughout the day at CVR.Vendors, displays, demonstrations of things such as woodworking, and workshops for visitors to craft their own musical instruments were all on offer Of course, ever present in the background was music There was an open-mic performance set up at one end of the school\u2019s main lobby, and at the other end an impromptu jam session.When evening fell, more than 100 people crowded CVR\u2019s auditorium to hear the main stage performances, which began at 6:30 pm and carried on until nearly midnight.The performers were Eddy and Kim Lawrence, Daniel McKell, the All Day Breakfast String Band, Stephanie Flowers and the Royal The more structured performances were held on Saturday evening, but informal jam AN sessions and open-mic areas sprung up all over the venue.r~HCT10 CHANTAL HORTOP Mountain Boys, Eldéanne and the Durham County Poets.Burrows says that the performances in the auditorium, which he says is simply a \u201cwonderful venue,\u201d were the highlight of the festival for him.He added that 11-year-old fiddling prodigy Stephanie Flowers\u2019 performance was also a high point.\u201cIn ten years I'll be begging her to come to my festival\u201d The final day of the festival was held at the Ormstown Presbyterian Church.A band from Valleyfield gave a particularly \u201crousing show\u201d Burrows says, and brought in a whole new group of music- lovers - people.There were posts all over Facebook \u2014 people who had seen the moose on their way to work or traipsing through their yards.Though it was beautiful and exciting for those who saw the creature and they couldn't wait to share it with their friends, it was a death sentence for the moose.It was only a matter of time before someone would take the matters into their own hands - or trigger finger \u2014 and hunt down the beast, much to the disappointment of those who had been lucky enough to spot it.In some ways, the kill was legal.The moose was tagged, but that doesn\u2019t mean it can't be hunted, the tag is simply a means of tracking The season was open for zone 8, of which the Valley is part.As we ask a few more questions, though, things get murkier.The hunter is said to have trespassed on private property in order to shoot the moose, claiming that because he was walking in a stream, and bodies of water are considered crown land, he had a right to be there.Even if it were to turn out that it was technically a legal kill, the incident brings up a whole array of other issues.First, there is the public outcry at the ignorance and inconsiderate nature of the hunter.Given for the various permits, and collecting a tariff on each animal killed.I think we can agree that this combination of ideas is something like trying to fill a bathtub with the plug out, and that marché fermier du comté de Huntingdon, qui se déroulé le 24 août, a permis de faire découvrir aux visiteurs de véritables petites merveilles culinaires réalisés par des citoyens du Haut Saint-Laurent qui s\u2019intéressent de très près à l\u2019art de faire bonne chère.Cette année, seulement deux personnes se sont inscrites à cette petite compétition culinaire amicale, ce qui a quelque peu déçu la coordonnatrice du marché fermier régional, Karine Jacques.Marie-Claude Brunet, qui habite à Godmanchester, a choisi de préparer des bruschetta.Comme ingrédients pour réaliser ce mets, elle a opté pour un pain aux olives, de l'ail, des tomates et des échalotes, assaisonnés de persil et de basilic.Michèle Lacroix, qui demeure à la fois à Godmanchester et à Montréal, a fait une pizza à l\u2019agneau oriental.Elle a entre autres employé du fromage de chèvre pour réussir ce plat.Les deux concurrentes ont préparé leurs plats le matin même.Une fois préparés, les mets ont été soumis à un jury vers
