and no one could, if asked to take aseat at the Table, “ wish to be better entertained.”’— Belfast Paper.To the Editor of the Quebec Gazelle, Sin In the old Quebec Gazette of Monday last there appears what Mr.Neilson is pleased to style, ¢¢ a well authenticated story.” That he considers it a matter of some importance is evident, from the circumstance of his placing it before the public in both languages—until now, 1 have always considered that a well authenticated story had its foundation in truth, in this instance itis notso.He says ‘‘ about ten evenings ago, at a house of public entertainment in this city two parties sat in adjoining rooms © separated by a thin wooden partition ; one of the parties was in favour of the administration of Lord Dalhousie, the other opposed to it,” &c.&e.Now from the article alluded to every reader would be impressed with a belief’ that two political parties had assembled at this house.The truth is, two or three Gentlemen were in the outer room, talking on subjects altogether unconnected with the administration, when the ‘¢ speedy return of Sir F.Burton’ was tauntingly roared ont hy an individual in the back room.¢ The health of His Excellency’’ was then given in the front room, to which the toaster of Sir F.B.added, *‘ the greatest enemy Canada ever had !” evidently to the satisfaction of the parly ** opposed to His 1 agree with Mr.Neilson in saying that it is very probable the gluse bad circulated pretty freely with this party : in vino veritas is a very old saying, but really, Mr.Editor, it is;Ligh time to inform him, that his well authenticated stories can be no longer pawned upon the public with impunity, or without contradiction.— Three individuals are here made a purty opposed to the administration of the Earl of Dalhousie—it is truly amusing that two Brothers with a young friend in company could not pass their evening, however thoughtless and intemperate their language, without being duly honored with publicity by that perpetual guardian of the people's rights, the Editor of the Ex -Gazette.It is very evident, Mr, Editor, that the sole object of Mr.Neilson in giving insertion to this story was to adorn his mischievous columns with the gratifying exhibition of the toast, ** Perdition” &c.addressed to the friends of the government.VERITAS.GAZETTE DE QUEBEC.BUREAU DE L’ADJUDANT GENERAL DES MILICES, Québec, 31 Mars, 1828.ORDRE GENERAL.Son Excellence le Commandant en Chef ayant pris communication de l’Enquête qui a eu lieu sur la conduite de Joseph Délaurier, Clement Hudon et J.Bte.Ouellet, ci-de- van{ Capitaines du lr.Bat.de Cornwallis, démis du service de Sa Majesté, le 20 Nov.dernier en conséquenee du rapport du Lt.Col.P, Taché, commandant ce Bat.de leur désobéissance aux ordres, et vû qu’ils peuvent avoir êté induits en erreur par un mal-entendu sur les ordres;
