United States Newspapers brought by Mail into Canada, are charged one cent each on delivery.PERIODICAL PUBLICATIONS.The rate on Periodical publications is, if not exceeding 3 ounces in weight, 1 cent: over 3 ounces, 4 cents.If prepaid by postage stamps from the office of publication, Periodicals published in Canada, weighing over 3 oz., may pass for 2 cents each.Periodicals printed in this Province, other than Newspapers, when specially devoted to Education, (both religious and general) to Agriculture, to Temperance, or to any branch of Science, and addressed directly from the office of publication to be transmitted to any post office in this Province, are exempt from charge.Transient Periodicals\u2014including Canadian Periodicals not prepaid the commuted rate from the office of publication\u2014nor exempted by the preceding clause, and all other Periodical publications posted in this Province, must be prepaid by stamps, the full rate, at the time of posting.: QUEBEC DIRECTORY.417 Periodicals received in the mails from the United States are charged with the rates named in the first \u201c¢lause of this section.POSTAGN BTAMPS.Postage stamps of the respective values of 1 cent for Newspapers; from £2 to £5, two shillings.No Order can be drawn for more than £6, but any number of orders of £5 each may be procured.REGISTRATION OF LETTERS.Persons transmitting letters which they desire should pass through the post as \u2018 Registered Letters,\u201d must observe that no record is taken of any letter unless specially handed in for registration at the time of post» ing.Upon all such letters, with the exception of those addressed to the United States, 1 penny must be prepaid as a registration charge.If addressed to the United States the ordinary postage rate on the letter to that country must be prepaid, and in addition a registration charge of 5 cents per letter.The registry thus effected in Canada is certified on by the United States post office, until the letter arrives at its destination.;
