"heart breaker” last Saturday morning playing host to St.John’s.The situation was this. Two week-ends ago the Gault team lost 4 to 3 against St.John’s in the first of a two game total-point series in the Provincial play-downs, This meant that Gault would have to score two additional goals in the second game in order te take the series. In the latter ga- ‘me, Gault did score one of the two but failed to capitalize for the other, the score being 4 to 3 after three periods of regular play.: ÎÏt was then decided that an additional ten-minute period would follow, which if again re- ‘suliing in a tie would be followed by a “sudden death” final.Sure enough after ten minutes of play, neither team managed ito score, although at one time two of the St.John’s players were warming the oft frequented penalty box, During the sudden- death finals both teams still managed to maintain the rugged pace which provided plenty of excitement. However, the end was inevitable. The end came sadly for Gault at 17.01 in the overtime period when a lucky back hander by St.John's Langevin hit the upper ‘bar of the Gault goal and dropped in the net giving St John’s an 8 to 7 point victory.Bruce Irwin and Warren Ha- GAULT LOSES TO ST.JOHN'S IN OVERTIME PROVINCIAL PLAY-OFFS —— "a SUDDEN DEATH FINALS PRODUCE FINE HOCKEY worth scored
