adequate to cope with the persistent demands for a vastly improved sporting centre the past few years. This Association, known as the Cercle d’Outremont, and its many activities are well inscribed in the pages of sporting development here, but now the time has come for additional pr ovi- sion for our growing athletes, Almost a thousand sporting enthusiasts would hardly express the number of sporting minds here, and it would.seem almost beyond reason to believe that the majority of these are in any way connected with the above Association, Firstly, because Cercle d’Outremont is so strohgly associated”with the school to which it is adjoined and that most of the members are or have been constant supporters for a number of years, that it is obvious the drive for membership could hardiy extend to the great number that would be well qualified to enter this organization. And, too, lest we forget, every club has certain regulations governing new members, and perhaps a great many whio would like to join would not be admittéd for various reasons.Let us presume that these reasons may be only the lack of facilities for additional ‘members which today rings true in many associations of this kind. The lack of proper athletic quarters here has become so pronounced lately that it would be indeed #n the best interests of our worthy and generous Civic guardians to delve into this matter without further delay.I know of no other City like Outremont that is better equipped with parks than it is for its size, but only one sporting centre really exists here—the North avenue grounds.A better site than this could not be chosen for the centralization of all future sporting activities, and as soon as permanent quarters are established (similar to Trenholme Park) definite steps will have been taken towards the promotion of a great cause.* * * COACH FOR ST.RAPHAEL'S “SAINTS” The big moment for St.Raphael's “Saints” hockey team has come with the timely arrival of Harry Nicholson as manager and coach for the-coming season. It is a sure thing that no mistake was made in appointing or rather requesting the services of this well-known sportsman. He has the fine qualities of being an all-round, at one time associating his éndeavors with provincial cHämpionships in softball, baseball, hockey, not to mention many other phases of the ‘sporting racket, A no more efficient and mutually understanding promoter of his type could be available for the local team in their first ride out this season.Harry is very frank, too, for when he says you're no good, he means it.So there’s no use beating about the bush for an easy time of it this year at St.Raphael's, for you'll probably find out sooner or later that your unfair re- laxatiion may cause some annoyance.Better be on your toes when the time comes.’ * * * PROVINCIAL JUNIOR CHAMPIONS Verdun Juniors are all flustered over their recent victory in the Junior Provincial Lacrosse Championship at Trenholme ‘Park.Outremont was reported defaulted in.the semi-final round because of their preference to play at Oka, and for this reason lost all chances of a trial for the coveted championship. It doed not seem fair that Outremont should be obliged to play on any other grounds than neutral, and for not doing so to be disqualified.- In the first place Outremont can claim equal right to challenge Verdun fox the Provincial title, because of certain negligence of the President of the Lacrosse League in writing reports, thereby not giving official natice of the game at Verdun for the semisfinal wheft an interruption in schedule occurred. No team in a league should be held responsible for an oversight on the part of a director and thus be disqualified.Outremont has already beaten Verdun, and feel that considerable unfairness has been their reward in the above matter, ! perhaps due to certain févoritism and sn uncontrolled mind on the part of someone.vr .* - * .> s + -< v Le MANY CHANGES Secretary of the North Branch rugby player, gymnasium leader, CNY STARE C.J.McGerrigle Takes Over Boys’ Division Mr.George Porteous, who
