hoping that more people will turn out to take advantage of the immunization, which is free for people over 60.Ideally, they would like to see four of every five older people get the shots, for an 80 per cent usage rate, but for this year, they would be satisfied with a three per cent increase.In the case of those over 65, last year's rate was 48 per cent, with 1,752 of 3,614 seniors in the Huntingdon CLSC territory taking advantage of the clinics.For those aged 60-64, the year 2001 saw only 28 per cent, or 324 people, received the vaccine.See FLU page 9 New owner plans to enlarge Ormstown IGA Ormstown\u2019s IGA supermarket, owned and operated by Tancrède and Doris Boyer and their family for 35 years, has a new owner.After several months of negotiations also involving the Sobey\u2019s chain which owns the IGA franchise, the sale was finalized on November 1, transferring ownership to Les Marchés Pilon- McKinnon, a company which already operates a large IGA store in Valleyfield.President Robert Pilon says the Ormstown store will be enlarged from its present 24,000 to 30,000 square feet, and new features such as a fish counter and a section for organic foods will be added.He expects that the present staff of 80 part- and full-time employees will remain on the job, and more may be added when the renovations, expected to start in January, are complete.Tancrède and Doris Boyer took over the grocery operation from his father Camille in 1967, when it was still located on Roy St., and oversaw the move to the brand-new Galeries d\u2019Ormstown a decade later.Now former Village and Parish, years after the union actually took place.At its November 4 meeting, the Orms- town Council planned to deal with about 30 duplicate by-laws left over from pre- fusion days.The secretary-treasurer will prepare an inventory of the by-laws and then tenders will be called for the work of revising them.The legal period for municipalities to bring their own land-management by-laws in line with the MRC\u2019s new schéma d'aménagement @texteregulier-expired November 1, but once again, the aftermath of the fusion process bas delayed proceedings, and Ormstoun is not quite finished the job.A major factor to be considered is new legislation dealing with pig farms.Council is asking Municipal Affairs minister André Boisclair for another year to complete its work.A municipal committee is reviewing the schema and hopes to complete its work soon, a Town Hall source said.Rather than asking permission each time of the Transport ministry to change discussed.Figures from 2001 show Ormstown\u2019s Chateauguay Valley Regional High School placing 367th out of 464 schools, public and private, across the province, while HS Billings High School in INTERMINGLED?This year's Remembrance Day, marked in several Valley communities with special services over the weekend, seems to have taken on more importance than it has in recent years.There are several reasons, including the balmy weather, which might or might not have had a bearing on the stronger turn-out.Not least among these is the imminent threat of a US was on Iraq, something which seems almost inevitable this week, given George Bush's seeming determination to launch an invasion, and the rejection by the Iraqi parliament of the latest United Nations resolution demanding disarmament and arms inspection.As of press time on Tuesday, we are still waiting to hear Saddam Hussein's final reply to the UN, but the news that Iraq is ordering large quantities of a nerve-gas antidote is not reassuring.We think that few people can be facing the prospect of such a war with enthusiasm.Even within the US government, there are important figures who continue to take a more cautious line than the President.But with every week that passes, war seems more and more likely, bringing with it the realization that ever-larger sectors of the globe are becoming places of armed conflict, even as other huge areas continue to struggle against poverty and famine.It all leads us to realize that even though remembrance, by definition, refers to past events, there is more than basement of the Methodist church.(Dbe ladies produced their pledge, when 58 signed it.November 11, 1942 STAG PARTY Never in the history of Stag Parties held in Huntingdon was there one beld on such a large scale as that held in the Drill Hall, Chateauguay Barracks, on Friday evening.Usually the men go to a Stag Party expecting to pay a lot of money and win little in the way of prizes.However, the attendance was so great on Friday night that no one had an opportunity to play any game for any great length of time whereby they could spend very much money.2,000 admission tickets were sold and it is felt that close to 1600 men attended.An admission was but 25¢, and in return the public witnessed several boxing bouts that proved to be quite entertaining.The boxing was well-man- 30 years ago November 15, 1972 RETHINKING C.V.R.NAME CHANGE The issue of a change in name for Chateauguay Valley Regional High School in Ormstoum came to an official close Friday night.Meeting at CVR, the 18 member Protestant Regional School Board of Chateauguay Valley unanimously rescinded its October 20 resolution changing the name of the regional school.The outcome of the meeting was largely anti-climatic (sic).Strong opposition to the name change became apparent shortly after its announcement.Students, parent, teachers, and school administrators were taken by surprise and were quick to show displeasure over the loss of the name Chateauguay Valley Regional High School and the fact that they had not been consulted prior to the implementation of the new name.aged and the bouts were dans la MRC Le Haut-Saint-Laurent, comme partout ailleurs au Québec.Depuis le 1er novembre, le CLSC Hunting- don offre gratuitement aux personnes âgées de six mois à 59 ans atteintes d'asthme, de diabète, du cancer, de maladies du cœur, du sang, des reins ou des poumons, d'une déficience immunitaire ou affectées par le VIH, de se faire vacciner gratuitement, de même que les proches vivant avec elles.La vaccination est aussi dispensée sans frais pour les gens de 60 ans ou plus ainsi que les employés ou les bénévoles œuvrant dans un établissement de soins.Les autres individus intéressés à se faire immuniser doivent cependant défrayer un montant de dix dollars.Pour recevoir ce vaccin, les gens doivent prendre un rendez-vous en téléphonant au CLSC Huntingdon.L'institution a aussi mis sur d'égout sur la rue Bouchette à Huntingdon et sur le chemin Ridge à Godmanchester.Des travaux de prolongement de service d\u2019aqueduc et d'égout ont aussi été effectués sur la rue François-Cleyn pour le secteur industriel.L'industrie de meunerie Dundee Feeds s'est installée et l'industrie Folia s'installera au printemps 2003.Des travaux de connexion seront faits sur la rue Lake pour offrir les services d'aqueduc et d'égout au nouvel établissement du IGA.La ville a acquis une machinerie pour son service de voirie municipale qui sert à la tonte de gazon l'été et de souffleur l'hiver.Nous sommes aussi en préparation d'acquisition d'un nouveau camion avec benne 4 saisons et équipement de déneigement.À la suite des mises aux normes de la comptabilité municipale, le Ville a dû changer son
