Mr.‘Hall then pretty plainly suggested that working people were not treated with disrespect because | they were poar, but because they were dirty, and asked them whether they could not be a little clean.I think that working-men have a perfect right to.demand ‘whatever wages they san get, and to-combine, and to strike too, to get those wages, if they donot get them without. You go to the employer and say, “I want 7s.a-day.” 4 Ab,” says somebody, * I have work to do, abd want 500 people; I will give you 6s.” - “No,” you eay, “I won't “sell.my labor under Ts, » And then you go to your neighbors, and say, What do you say to this?” And they say, “We all agree ;” and then you go back and say, “ We have all agreed, and if you won't pay.78.we will go home and read the papers and enjoy ourselves.” 1-don't see there ia anything worse in working men sticking out for labor than there is in capitalists sticking out or their prices of goods.(“ Hear, hear,” and cheers.)
