The cause of the fire is believed by the company to be due to a spark from a passing train. Two trains met at the Bromptonville station shortly before the outbreak of the fire.Lightning at the time of the outbreak was not particularly severe and there appeared to be no reason to believe that the lumber was fired by a thunderbolt. The loss, it is understood, is pretty well covered by insurance.- 7 The insurance on the whole lumber yard amounted to $28,000, carried in companies represented by Mr.F.J.Alger.a The fire was discovered at 1 o’clock by Mayor Lambert, who gave the ' alarm. The engine from which sparks may have caused the blaze, passed here at 12.10 o;clock.SIR G.PARKES M.P."IN MONTREAL Expecis Woman's Sulfrage in Old Country in Few Years.- DOES .NOT THINK .GENERAL ELECTION WIEL OCOUR THERE FOR TWO YEARS.Gilbert Parker, M.P., aurived herelast night to Belleville to visit his mother, who is very ill.‘His stay in Canada will be ‘brief.Speaking on political affairs in the old country he said he expected to see women’s sufffage - within a very few years.- He does not expect another general election for at least two years yet.NEXT CONVENTION — IN SHERBROOKE.Three Rivers Healte Conference Adjouras BROOKE, 1S ELECTED 3 PRESIDENT.Mayor Dr.L.C.Bachand and Dr.P.Pelletier, M.L.A., have returned from Three Rivers, where they attanded the health convention, the Maynr rejne- senting the city.; he hated Stäniey, the professional coach, who had played the Of course the love was all a ‘pretense, a sham of the stage, but just the same he did not like to see his wife in another's arms.- For half an hour Mrs.Temple held her little court while thë'janitor wait- -ed impatiently to close the hall. Then Stanley joined the .grip, and Mrs.Temple moved toward the entrance.“I have asked library for a cigar. This was what he Had feared from the time Miriam had scored her first success.Perhaps it was as well to bave it over with.A week later Mrs.Temple‘ was ‘established in New York with her mather, and daily she worked at her.lessons in the dingy cavern of an unlighted stage, taking delight in the fact that she was treading the boards that nightly served as the pedestal of one of the foremost actors of his day.Stanley was a coach of no mean skill, and he worked with a will to earn the large fees that were paid: him.By spring he was able to place Miriam in a “smail part in a Broadway production. The cost of the costumes was double that of the salary to be paid for the entire engagement, and the manager was glad to get some amateur who would dress the part artistically, while at the same time he was shrewd enough to realize the advertising possibilities of the wife of a millionaire almost nationally famous.Encouraged by her success, Miriam gave up her summer to study at the suggestion of Stanley, who was glad to move to the Temples’ country home and drive the Temple horses when les sons were-not in progress. He had obtained an offer of the same
