Great-Britain and Ireland King, Defender of the Faith, to all our loving snhjects, whom these presentsshall or may concern\u2014 Greeting 3 Whereas, in order to promote the Trade in Timberin our Province of Lower Canada, dimi- Misntle tomptatien todepredations which have been, and continue to be extonsively committed on Our Waste Lands along the River Ottawa, by unlawfully cutting down and carrying away Timber Trees growing there, and give encouragement to the Enterprize of Fair Traders, it has been thought expedient by Us to grant permission to Our loving Subjeets, to eut Oak and Pine Timber on certain Tracts and parts of Our Waste Lands situated on the said River Ottawa, in Our said Province, in consideration of a cortain Price to Le paidto Us ior the same, and on certain Terms and Conditions herein alter expressed.Know Yc, therefore, that, by aud with the advice of Our Exccutive Council of Our said Province, We do hereby Order, Publish, and Declare that, until Our pleasure herein shall be further or otherwise made known, it shall be law/tl (tr all or any of Our lovinz Subjects to enter upon any of Onr Wosto Lands situ- aod, lying and being within Our said Province, and Successors ns afbresaid, Thirdly, Upon condition that until the payment and satisiuction of the several Prices and Sums of - Money herein before fixed and determined, or of such other Prices as may from time to time be fixed hy an Order or Orders of Qur Governor, Licutenant- Governor, or Person administering the Government of Our said Province, in Council, as aforesaid, to he paid for the Timber to be cut as aforesaid, to the person by Us to be appointed as herein before mentioned 3 the Timber so cut shall not cease to belong to Us, and shall and may be seized, attached and recovered to and for the use of Us, Our Heirs aud Sue- cossors, by the same remedies and means as if Cur Permission to cut the same, or any Licence or Licences to that effect, had not hoen granted.Provided always,
