the Directors of the Bank of England were interviewed regarding the '* security ” which was deposited with them for the former advances.This was found to consist of a rusty tiu box, which might or might not contain “lOtnething” ; at any rate the good people to whom it was entrusted never took the trouble of looking into it.Thus was London and Paris swindled out of £4,800,-000 on the strength of an empty tin box, a few printed falsehoods, and a Ministerial commission from a semi-civilized country.The case has been before the English Courts for some time hack, and tho House of Commons has appointed a committee to enquire into the ways and means of restoring a portion of the money touts proper owners.CORN EXCHANGE DAILY REPORT.Monday, March 22, 1375.FLOUR—Receipts, 490 brls ;
