Titre :
The Quebec chronicle
La ligne éditoriale du journal est définie comme suit : « [.] in the management of The Morning Chronicle we shall, therefore, begin by simply declaring, that, as we glory in our connexion with the British Empire, it will be our undeviating aim and unremitting endeavour, to create and foster a cordial attachment to those time-honoured institutions which have made her so illustrious in the annals of the world ». (May 18, 1847, p. 2)

[Traduction]
Voici les différents titres que le Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph a connus depuis ses débuts : Disponibles en ligne : The Morning Chronicle (Jan. 1847 - Nov. 1850) The Morning Chronicle and Commercial and Shipping, 1850-1888 The Morning Chronicle (Feb. 1888 - May 1888) The Quebec Morning Chronicle, 1888-1898 The Quebec Chronicle, 1898-1924 Non disponible en ligne : The Chronicle Telegraph (1925-1934) The Québec Chronicle-Telegraph (1934 à ce jour)

text of the Commiasion’s letter 20 Chancellor Wirth and also its decision were imued about midnight, after the Commiesion * had tramed them at a session lasting many hours. The decision was unanimous, the French delegate joining in it, despite the report of opposition from a section of the Chamber, which caused deep concern in Commission circles during the day.The actton taken by the German Government to put its finances on a sound basie and edminate as much a8 poawible the wholesale printing of paper money constitutes ''z sertous effort to mest the commiasion’s As That Pursued After Waterloo Towards France London, May 31—With Germany undefiant, Premier Lloyd George had planned to make a brief sinte- ment on Reparations Im the House of Commons this afternoon but when John Robert Clynes, Labor Member, opened the debate and attributed the present difficulties to the Government's election pledges of 1918, the Prime Minister launched into a lengthy defence of the Reparations Commission and the treaty vf Versailles.Mr.Lloyd George praised the German attitude towards the Reparations Commission and indicated that so long as she was not defiant Germany could count on Britain's sympathy and understanding of the difficylties involved in meeting the treaty conditions. He declared, however, that there was no cause tor disagreement between France and England, for should Germany refuse to attempt to fulfill the Commission's proposals, Great Dritain‘s place would be at the side of the Versailles signatories, despite the misrepresentations which were being made.Great Britain believed in the traditional policy of moderstion and fuifiliment.continued the Prime Minister, and a save warning that isolated action bn’ (Ne par: of any one of the Allies would be disastrous to the Ententé between them.“It is the policy pursued after Waterloo toward France, when Prussia and Russia and the other victors urged that France be trampled,” mid Mr, Lloyd George.“The Government in that day refused to countenance such à policy: we are pursuing the same course. But if she should say ‘this treaty we de- éline to carry out’ it would be different.A German policy of non- tulfilment would be & policy of im- | mediate disaster.“It Le not à question of France act- ag alone, if there is detignce of the Versailles treaty. We are aigna- tories to thet tresty which the House of Commons ratified. We are.committed to it.In spite of all misrepresentations we still shall stand for the policy of moderation and fulfilment.” The Prime Minister concluded by saying that the circumstances which had arizen rendered it unnecessary to refer to any discussions of recent weeks and he hoped it would be unnecessary to resume those discussions and enter into the question of the effect of Isolated action, declaring:—" All I would say would be that 1 agree that any isolated action on the part of any of the Allies would be disastrous to the enteate between them.” Prime Minister Lloyd Qeorge outlining the reparations situation in the House, defended the treaty of Versailles and said all he asked was that its critics state the facts fairly. He said there was no doubt that "there was one fact that worked {agninst the proper bmlance of the Reparations Commission as well as of the League of Natlons—the attl- tude of the United Blates. He mid that when the treaty was signed it was assumed that the United States would be represented on the Reparations Commission and in the League of Nations. The United States was the only country without claims with respects to reparations, he said, and she was not affected by the reparations settlement.Thersfore the United States was strictly impartial, was friendly with Germany, friendly with France, friendly with Italy and Great Britain and was also concerned with international trade. Therefore, he declared, the United States was concerned with seeing that Reparations were not driven to the extreme of upretting the balance of world trade.‘No doubt the absence of the United States from the machinery of the treaty of Versallles,” said Mr.Lloyd George’ has diéturbed (te equipoise; has made the machine lets effective and made It work with less precision.1 will not say it haa made the mechine work with more that there 19 no cause for disagreement between France and England. All the reports of the Reparations tribunal indicate that an arrangement will be arrived at which win be acceptable to the dedtor
