was aguin utterly ignored.not a single sale being recorded.- Coppers were steady, but failed to make further response to the increased, demand for the metal. In jhe final dealings Central Leather and American Hide and Leather Pfd rose substantially.Canadian Pacific's rise of 2 1-2 to 186 was almost the only natewosthy movement in the rails, afthough Unjon Pacific, Northern Pacific, Erie and the new and old Rock [sland is- supes showed signs of moderate accumulation.Canadian lost much of “its gain before tRe dull close. In the way of general news, the foreign demand for Steel was among the chief constructive features.According to trade authorities, the question of price is no longer a considera- | tion.while domestic consumers are willing to psy premiums for what they can get.Further large receipts of gold from England were reported in payment of ‘munitions and the Bank of England | released another large amount nf the precious metal for shipment to this country.Exchange on London worked hack to the highest auniatfon in many weeks, demand sterling selling as high as 470 1.4, with oth: markets firmer in sympaihy.Remittances of Scandinavian exchange were especially large.Trading in bonds was moderate.I but denoted some increase nf investment inquiry.“Future” ne foreign offerings were small.Total sales, par value.$5.210.000.rat mer MONTRPAT fTOCK FYPHANGE Sales (Tuesday Afternoon) (From Breer & Gourdeau) *Phone—20 at 145%.Cedars—1 at 79.Montreal Power—7 at 235.Shawinigan—10, 15, § at 138, 25 at 137%.’ Ames-Holden-75, 25 at 20, 10 at 1934, 20 10, $0, 50 at 20, 45 at 20%, 50, su, 50 st 201, SO ut 21, 25, 50, 25, 25 at 20, 5 at 20%, 100 at 20, Car—S$ at 97.Canada Locomotive—2% at 60%, 28 at 6044.Dominion Bridge—25, 25, § at 218.Canada Foundry and Furgings-—18, 50 nt 178, 25 at :79%4, 5, 10, 10, 5, 8.35 at 180, 25 at 181, 25, 10, 5 at 182, 1 at 180, 5 at 385.Steamahips—20 at 18.5 at 18.Carriage—10 at S135.25, 25, 25 at 5115.25, 5.10 at 52, 25 a: 5034 20 at $014, 25 at 30, 1 wu ST.Laurentide — 25 at 104, 25, 25 at 193%, LyalJ—25 at 3374, 25 a: 34.Ontario Steel 'roducts—100 at 22, 25, 50, 25, 25 at 25% Penmans—2 at 60%.Scotia—25 at 97, 25, 25 at 96%, 10, 10 at 96.Steel Company of Canada—50, 25, 10.18, 25 at 43, 10 at 42%, 10, 10 at 42%.Steel Corporation—75 at 48), 28.25 at 4854, 25 at 4844.Ames pfd—3 at #5, Sat 71, 4 at 73, Canada Car pfd—S at 118, 15 at 11S, 10, 25 at 118.Cement pfd-$ at 9034, 10, 4 at 90%.Steel Company of Canada pfd—IS at 90.Montreal Bank—40, 3, 15, 2 at 234.THE QUEBEC CHRONICLE.CG.W.WALCET, Stocks ani Coni3 BOUGHT ane SOLD 98 07 PE LL Cuebec TELEPHONE 577 Municipal Debentures Often pectecr Security to nat Invests 5% to 6 1-2% | | NCDOLGAL.À CORY) Sited Ene” 116 MOUNTAIN HILL ‘Phones: 1402 snd 1403.H.S.THOMSON, MANA ER Le A B.DISPUIS Quebec.ee ARTHUR BRUNEAU, Floor Member, 4 Hospital St, Montreal BRUNEAU & DUPUIS (Members Montreal Stock Exchange.)
