Titre :
The Quebec chronicle
La ligne éditoriale du journal est définie comme suit : « [.] in the management of The Morning Chronicle we shall, therefore, begin by simply declaring, that, as we glory in our connexion with the British Empire, it will be our undeviating aim and unremitting endeavour, to create and foster a cordial attachment to those time-honoured institutions which have made her so illustrious in the annals of the world ». (May 18, 1847, p. 2)

[Traduction]
Voici les différents titres que le Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph a connus depuis ses débuts : Disponibles en ligne : The Morning Chronicle (Jan. 1847 - Nov. 1850) The Morning Chronicle and Commercial and Shipping, 1850-1888 The Morning Chronicle (Feb. 1888 - May 1888) The Quebec Morning Chronicle, 1888-1898 The Quebec Chronicle, 1898-1924 Non disponible en ligne : The Chronicle Telegraph (1925-1934) The Québec Chronicle-Telegraph (1934 à ce jour)

There is a Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde flavour about this letier in question.Etcetera Hyde appears in the columns of Le Solell and then be 1s trans muted into Jekyll-Choquette in La Libre Parole, and now he is Etcetera Hyde again, with a growing suspicion on the pert of the public of the identity of the two; 49,025, making a total of 381,693.It is improbable that the present census will show any marked diflerence in these figures, The indications are that there has been no great change in the political complexion of the pro- vinoes with the possible exception of Pinar Del Rio, where the influence ol Pir Guerra, the military leader of the last uprising, is very great. To even apcculate on the outcome of the next election is futile owing to the eopfusion sient on the Saws sions in Liberal wy defined attitude of bok LE ver A year ago there is mo doubt ths Liberals would have had an over whelming victory and that Alfred Zayas would bave been elected Presi dent. Now the Liberal party is hope lessly divided between the followers of Jose Miguel Gomes and Zayas and an excellent opportunity is aforded for the Conservatives to organise and nominate a leader who will command the respect of the cquatry.Should they obtain the consent of such a man as General Mario Menocal to run for the Presidency, tivere can be hardly any doubt that he would attract a great following from the better class of Libergla woukl be easily elected.General Menocal's personal business in- toreste are buch, however, thal & ir very doubtful whether be could be tempted to enter the pokitical arena. It is rumored that Gemeral Miguel Gomen is afllicted © with a dangerous ailment which may compel his retire ment from the field, in which event a reconciliation of the Miguelista and Zayista factions is not improbable. The new electoral law has been completed and now only awaits the ap oval of Governor came, for long and spectacular runs were missing and there were few errors in the hack field to give the opposing side material advantage. It was not until the first half was drawing to a olose that the Yale off- \u2018 side machinery began to work smoothly enough to carry the ball steadily down field. From Yale's forty-six yard line, three rushes, an on-side kick and a cleverly executed forward pass placed the ball on Harvard's nine yard lime. The crimson players braced themselves for the onslaught, but could not withstard Yale's line play and three rushes carried the ball over.Captain Digelow added another point by kicking the gonl and moon after came intermission. The second score occurred about fifteen minutes after the second half began.Again Yale started in her own territory and carried the ball seventy yards without a loss to the Harvard voal line.More scrimmages were re quired for this score than for the previous one, and a forward pass made nearly twenty yards of the distance. With about three minutes of play left, Harvard got the ball in the center of the field, rushed it twenty yards, and then carried off a brilliant on-side kick, which placed it on Yale's six yard line.A crimenn score seemed inevitable. The first rush gained three yards, the second a yard, the third a trifle more than a foot. Then the ball went to Yale on downs, and there the rams ended.Harvard had three other opportunities 10 score and Captain Parker made [three attempts at field goals with comparative easy distance of Yale's ed in the shooting up into the air poste. The first of thess efforts result- and landing only twenty yards away, not reaching the goal posts at all, and the other two efforts were blocked. It is safe to say that the vast com course of prople who packed
