Titre :
The Quebec chronicle
La ligne éditoriale du journal est définie comme suit : « [.] in the management of The Morning Chronicle we shall, therefore, begin by simply declaring, that, as we glory in our connexion with the British Empire, it will be our undeviating aim and unremitting endeavour, to create and foster a cordial attachment to those time-honoured institutions which have made her so illustrious in the annals of the world ». (May 18, 1847, p. 2)

[Traduction]
Voici les différents titres que le Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph a connus depuis ses débuts : Disponibles en ligne : The Morning Chronicle (Jan. 1847 - Nov. 1850) The Morning Chronicle and Commercial and Shipping, 1850-1888 The Morning Chronicle (Feb. 1888 - May 1888) The Quebec Morning Chronicle, 1888-1898 The Quebec Chronicle, 1898-1924 Non disponible en ligne : The Chronicle Telegraph (1925-1934) The Québec Chronicle-Telegraph (1934 à ce jour)

to the subsidies to steamships, elc.; to expenditures on harbor and river improvements as of the same nature as the outlay on the Intercolonial. The causes of that road's failure to pay he again stated to be first the lon route; second, water competition, an third, low rates. The rates were moe low before his time, and he had not changed them. They had for their wrpose to divert Newfoundland and Ret Indies trade from United States ports, and to secure the flour trade of the Maritime Provinces to Ontario \"the low rate of a quarter of a oent a ton-mile had been made. The Intercolonint got no credit for the results of all this.It was the pa horse of the country\u2019s commerce. Then $160,000 a year was paid to the Caunsdian Pacifie for its fre to St.John to compete with the Intercolonial, which compelled it to reduce rates, lie also quoted passenger rates on different ronds to show that those of the Intercolonial were by far the lowest.AH these things, he said, accounted for the Intercolomial being second to the canals as a deficit creator.Coming to deal with the current year, Mr.on apoke of the prospects as being ex.cocilingly encouraging. In the first six months of 1004-05 the deficit was $142,000: for the fat six months of 1903-06 it was only 871,270.The improved situation he ascribed to the remlts of the inspection made by bim- edf and Mr.Butler, his deputy minis- ister and chief engineer, duri which they consulted the officials of the road as to the operation and management. The result was a general overhauling, the inauguration of more ecomomical methods of operation, the restriction of the issue of parmes, the increase of rates, ote.Concluding, Mr.Emmerson More Terrible Than War! they do if properly digested. But when the digestive apparatus bas had too much work crowded upon it, or when it becomes weakened from any cause, the food decays (there ie no other word so expressive) in the stomach and intestines, and not only produces gas to distend the stomach and crowd nnd weaken the heart, but promotes other disease conditions which develop into serious liver, stomach awd sometimes beart trouble.lt is important that the food pre sent the sugar and starch to the sto mach in such form that they may be readily do pass to nerves and x to energize the ~rilohine without Mr.Scott, an Amevican multi-millionaire.Previous to the purchase of the property L'Abbe Constantin, & cure of advanced age, charitable, and good natured to a degree, had acted as a guardian an- gd to
