Titre :
The Quebec chronicle
La ligne éditoriale du journal est définie comme suit : « [.] in the management of The Morning Chronicle we shall, therefore, begin by simply declaring, that, as we glory in our connexion with the British Empire, it will be our undeviating aim and unremitting endeavour, to create and foster a cordial attachment to those time-honoured institutions which have made her so illustrious in the annals of the world ». (May 18, 1847, p. 2)

[Traduction]
Voici les différents titres que le Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph a connus depuis ses débuts : Disponibles en ligne : The Morning Chronicle (Jan. 1847 - Nov. 1850) The Morning Chronicle and Commercial and Shipping, 1850-1888 The Morning Chronicle (Feb. 1888 - May 1888) The Quebec Morning Chronicle, 1888-1898 The Quebec Chronicle, 1898-1924 Non disponible en ligne : The Chronicle Telegraph (1925-1934) The Québec Chronicle-Telegraph (1934 à ce jour)

THAT THE AMPRICANS WILL NOT WND TREIR NEXT RACE S0 EASY.: Yi nee Henly, July 3 —Pennsylvania today.Theodore Cook, an old “ox versily against Cambridge and who helped Lehmann coach Harvard, has wriiten the folowing description of the race for the Associated Dress ;— ‘The weather todav was nexfect for the Pennsylvanians first race and the conditions were absolutely equal for each station. The sun was tne and warm and the wind was froin an unusual quarter off the Berkshire shore and save none of the advantage which would have accrued to the Ducks (Buckinghamshire) side if the breeze had Lown off the bushes. The water was slightly rippled, but not enough to impede the blades in the jeast.“As the Pennsylvania boys came cn the regaita course and paddled down to the start they received loud and general applause from all sides of the river. They looked brown.wiry and as wel trained as possible, consider- tng the severe and secluded nature of their proparation on a hill above the town, from which thev came down to row without ever watching the cher crews from the tow path, or even trying their strength against the other crews at all. They looked far Joss nervous and fine down than ! should ever bave imagined, and a few of them actually smiled as their shell was paddled to the starting post.Tins was very different to the tense and stern faces of both the Yale and Cornoll crew some years ago on a sinhlar occasion.“The Pennsyivanians were on the right side of the river as you looked from the start to the finish.*'The members of the London Rowing Club crew averaged 168 pounds each, as against 164 pounds cach for the Pennsylvanians, but the Americans looked far more stocky and wirv and Mr.Lowe, the coach of the London crew, who also watched from the umpire's boat, did not seem to like the prospect at all.His fears were justified, for although his crew got ahead for tle first few st€okes, at 10, Peaneylvania whipping in at #1 soon cut.down the difference and soon he gan to go ahead very quickly, cetting a Yad of a long quarter of a length at the farm, with the London crew rowing hatd behind them. The Englishmen wore guite unable to nress the leaders and Pennsylvania passed Hawley Court hoat house clear and casy.rowing well within themecives at a level and strong 38, which suited thesn capitally.Number 5 and number 4 were duing especially well at this point, and Jobn Gardiner, though his style is not attractive, was doing just what his crew nocdod and in the best wav anv stroke could ho it.They negotiated the half course in 1hcce minutes and 24 scconds and immediately began to take off the full vremsire which had rested upon them to this ume.The London crew spuried then, but they only produced the effect of falling still further back and the race was practically over when Pennsvlvama passed the lawn of the Leander Rowing Club two lenglhs in ho lead.Soon after this Gardimer broke Lis men out of their easy gait, although there appearcd no ncoesetly whatever for doing so, and worked them up to uearly 40, apparently with tie ubjeet of showing the grand stand Low strongly the Pennsylvanie crew couki finish if they liked. The boat rollci a little under the change of pace, hut rapidly became steady again apd the bive and crinwon jersevs the post three lengths ahead doing their hardest.“The course was completed in eight minutes one and (wo-filth seconds.“The victory will do the bovs good, but the silence with which it vas re œived at the finish was an indication that no one considered it a final verdict as to their prospects against a first-class combination.” rr eres THE STRIKE IN OTTAWA Ottawa, July 3.— A public meeting in the finteresis of the striking wood workers and
