Titre :
Morning chronicle and commercial and shipping gazette
La ligne éditoriale du journal est définie comme suit : « [.] in the management of The Morning Chronicle we shall, therefore, begin by simply declaring, that, as we glory in our connexion with the British Empire, it will be our undeviating aim and unremitting endeavour, to create and foster a cordial attachment to those time-honoured institutions which have made her so illustrious in the annals of the world ». (May 18, 1847, p. 2)

[Traduction]
Voici les différents titres que le Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph a connus depuis ses débuts : Disponibles en ligne : The Morning Chronicle (Jan. 1847 - Nov. 1850) The Morning Chronicle and Commercial and Shipping, 1850-1888 The Morning Chronicle (Feb. 1888 - May 1888) The Quebec Morning Chronicle, 1888-1898 The Quebec Chronicle, 1898-1924 Non disponible en ligne : The Chronicle Telegraph (1925-1934) The Québec Chronicle-Telegraph (1934 à ce jour)

county jaU, «be has been attended with tbe greatest care, and everything done to prevent her from again attempting t0 destroy herself. She, however, made another attempt on Friday nigtit, but without success.During a her incarceration she at times teemed qtit* reconciled, but whenever tbe subject of tne murder was approached she became quite nervous, and especially when tor auter a name ia ellad-ed to When conveyed to Freehold she promised District Attorney McLean that sba wontd make a fell ooafeeiion-of ail *hf knew in the case, but as yet nothing farther than tbe fact that she charges Radiïkl as the perpetrator of tbe deed, bas been obtained troin bar, and at times she woold deify this, and say that she knows nothing aboutit.Ihe siidence before tbe Grand Jury, however, has disclosed the facts that there is not a shadow of doebt but that Radzski ia the alleged murderer.Mrs.Marks was the first witness examined by District Attorney McLean before tbe Grand Jury.In her evidence it was shown that Fell-uer arrived in this country in the early pert of October last that though be was a married man and knows to the witness as snch, she testified that on the same vessel her sitter and herself were passengers. While on the upper ‘ deck the second day om, FeHner and ber sister Albertina Phlana, accidentally got info conversation with one another, and until the arrival of the steamer at this .port were constantly in one anotbes’s company.FeHner was on many occasions free in his expressions, and held out many inducetueuta to Miss Albertina, provided she would comply with hi* wishes. On their arrival here they proceeded to No.45 Bast Broadway, and Mr.FeHner put up at the Prescott House. That daring the first two weeks *ft*r their arrival here, FeHner and her sister was constantly in one another’s company, and FeHner soon succeeded In accomplishing her ruin.It was well known to them that Kellner had a large amount cf money, -for he had given them, especially Miss Albertina, various sums, as high as $200 at a time.Soon after FeHner bad ruined her sister he left off visiting her %pd suddenly disappeared j but bis whereabouts, she averred, was unknown to them, until bis body was found murdered. She also stated that the re aeon why her sister aad herself were anxious to evade the questions of tbe police was that her sister did not want to bave her shame fonde pablie, aad that it preyed so heavily upon ber mind that it wsu the cense of ber committing suicide.Detective officers Farley and fieman were examined before &e Grand Jnry, also Mr.Seiglo, a watchmaker iu Whitehall street, and their evidence was such os to show that FeHner, through Mrs.Marks, became acquainted with young Rsdzski, and that it was by bis advice 7>e left the Prescott Houss ; that Radcski, at the time that FeHner disappeared, was stopping at the boose No.4 CarroU street, and that be made application to tbe parties with whom be lodged to take FeHner as a boarder. They produced the porter of tbe Prescott House, who stated that Mrs-Marks came to the hotel while FeHner was there, and threatened his life U be did not save her sister from rain, and was so violent la her actions that it was feared she wes going U> •tab FeHner, as she bad a dirk at tbe time in ber hand.It was also ptoyed by tbe porter that when FeHner left the hotel Rsdzikt objected to his calling a carriage, bat that Radsski went out and got a boy to take FeHner’* trunks down Broadway, and that the two followed behind. It was also shown that on their arrival at Oanal street they took a coach, aod drove immediately to No.4 Carroll street, Brooklyn.Mrs Adolph Swonzer, with whom Radski boarded, and who is also detained as a witness, testified that on the night when FeHner disappeared Radski came home and bad the deceased’s cane in bis hand, and wltich was afterwards in his room, and seemed quite excited, remarking to her that he and the deceased bad been out of tbe city, but that FeHner had missed the boat and would not be home That Radski then went up to fais room and‘•tripped himself, and was for some time engaged in.washing.It was also shown by Mr .Seiglo, .jeweller, in Whitehall street, that on tbe following day of Feliner’s disappearance, Radski called at bis place of business and offered to sell him Mr.Feliner’s spectacles and gold watch ; that he knew them well, as both parties had been in his place before, and when questioning Radski how he came in possession of them, he said that FeHner gave them to him to «ell, to pay some bill for him, and that he had sailed for California. The evidence of a broker in Canal street was then taken, showing that Mrs.Marks offered twenty-one of tbe 1,000 fr&nos to him for sale, one of which was produced, and of which the following is a copy : ,9471 |T.9| BANK OF PARIS.Arm.21,1859.At will be paM ( Government , Bank Low , Jtsd pertalty ln,P«ri#ia yw*rl,«0;tnd r „ < on ooonter- street. It was also shown that Mrs Marks and Radski devoted over two hours the day following the disappearance of FeHner in overhauling the deceased’s trunk, and that they took with them some papers and a small bundle. Thus will be seen that a certain clue to the murderer has been obtained, and that Mrs.Marks and ber sister knew something relative to tne murder. However, the Grand Jury, after hearing the full testimony, were not able to indict Mrs: Marks, and on Sftturdky morning she wes dis-cbarged, together with the witness, Mr*.Swonzer, The latter returned to her home yesterday, but Mrs.Marks left immediately for Philadelphia, where she goes to join some friends. It is said she intends leaving tbe country immediately, and return home.TUK EKHOKSOt'H IMPIlMSlOJiS Of BDOCATIOSAL
