Titre :
Morning chronicle and commercial and shipping gazette
La ligne éditoriale du journal est définie comme suit : « [.] in the management of The Morning Chronicle we shall, therefore, begin by simply declaring, that, as we glory in our connexion with the British Empire, it will be our undeviating aim and unremitting endeavour, to create and foster a cordial attachment to those time-honoured institutions which have made her so illustrious in the annals of the world ». (May 18, 1847, p. 2)

[Traduction]
Voici les différents titres que le Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph a connus depuis ses débuts : Disponibles en ligne : The Morning Chronicle (Jan. 1847 - Nov. 1850) The Morning Chronicle and Commercial and Shipping, 1850-1888 The Morning Chronicle (Feb. 1888 - May 1888) The Quebec Morning Chronicle, 1888-1898 The Quebec Chronicle, 1898-1924 Non disponible en ligne : The Chronicle Telegraph (1925-1934) The Québec Chronicle-Telegraph (1934 à ce jour)

a detail of which will be found in their book, now on the table for tr.s|>ec • ion Thi» sum is about the average of former years : hut, in view of the general prosperity of ihe country, it might naturally hate been exnfcted that fewer claims would have presented themselves.The Committee deem it their duty lo remark, with the view, if possible, of devising some remedy, that a very large portion of ihis year* expenditure, on this head, has arisen from the necessity of procuring passages to the old country for those coming from other parts of the Province —and it would seem but just that some portion of this should be borne by the sister societies of those towns from which such applicants may The financial position of the Society will be found embodied in the Treasurer’s Report—it is still prosperous.The permanent fund now amounts to the sum of £1,376 8s.9d.,—the Gash on hand to £81 8s.9d. . .The Socieiy has received an Addition, during the present year, of 2 lif" and 8 ordinary members ; and Lieut.-Col.Moore, 54th Regiment.The Anniversary of the Society was celebrated by the members aitending Divine Service at the Cathedral.His Lordship, the Bishop of Quebec, the Patron, and the Rev.A.W.Mountain, one of the Chaplain# of the Society, performed the service, and the Sermon was preached by the Rev Dr.Mackie, also a Chaplain to the Society.To the organ's! of the Cathedral, John Carter, Esquire, the Ladies and Gentlemen of the Choir, fttul other amateur musician» in the citv, the Society was indebted for a verv Anlendid Musleal Service.The collection in aid of the ChAritable Fund amounted to £35 5* ; and, on no occaaion was the Cathedral so filled to overflowing.The Society has to lament the loss, bv death of William Patton, Esq , one of ita Life Members and for several years ita Pr-sident, nnd always its warm friend this gentleman, a true-hearted Englishman, had, by his kindness of disposition, made himself beloved by every individual member of the Society. .„ , Denth has also deprived the Society of anothe valued member, Charles Poston, Esquire, its last President, who died whilat on a visit to his native land. , , The obituary list also contains the names of Mr James Poole and Mr.Fletcher, both Members of old standing.Tbe whole respectfully submitted, WKSTON HUNT, PSKIIORST.( To the Editor of the Morning Chronicle.' gin___Your correspondent» ‘‘Lex.’ says that my statement of the t.ial-Heath vs.Fl.nn, matter of the Woter Lilly—is baaed on an erroneous impression.Such is not the ease.I gave the Worshipfnl Mr.Maguire’s own note», as furnished by himself, and I concur in the English decisions, that if « sailor b/cornes aick or gets hurt he Should be paid in full ;
