The drive .down the Dempster was really cool and very exciting. We rode the ferry and saw a moose! We made it to Fort McPherson, but had to turn around because the highway was closed (snowstorm!).Yesterday, my boss threw me into a day trip up to Tuktuyaktuk, a small village right on the Beaufort Sea.Four of us, including the pilot, squished into a tiny little plane and flew over the snowy, frozen Mackenzie Delta and Tundra for about 80 minutes.Spectacular! We got the best views of some of the most ancient Pin-gos.Then we had a little tour of the most remote village, accessible only by barge and plane in the summer, and via the famous Ice Road in the winter. These people don’t mess around, they live solely on fish and beluga which they fish and butcher themselves in little boats. They keep their food in a community freezer dug thirty feet down into the perma-frost.We climbed down a ladder and visited the lockers. It was like being in a deep cave.I saw a wolf carcass, a cut up caribou and six buckets of blubber! Yuck! And this morning Snowshoe had seven puppies! Big beautiful and very white, we brought her and her first two into the house where she had the rest. She is now in the front closet.Everyone is healthy and doing fine! Imagine walking across the yard at dawn with two fresh newborn puppies in my coat! painted on the church door, it looks so undignified?” Whenever I see that big red heart on that church door it makes me feel so good.” These are but two of the comments made.Where is this church and why have they painted that heart on their front door?We the church is Trinity Anglican Church on South Street, Cowansville. Why, you may also ask, did they do this and how did it come about Trinity Anglican faced 2010 with a dark cloud hanging over it.It was put under trustee ship, then faced with a large debt, so because Valentine’s Day fell on a Sunday and the members needed a lift, it was decided to decorate the church and hall with Valentine decorations for the service. One of these decorations, a heart, was placed on the front door of the church. As our priest, Reverend Allan Gault circulates among the congregation before the service, the comment was made by one of the parishioners, “As I drove in and saw the heart on the door, I thought, Oh the church with a heart”.Reverend Allan said, “I love it” and immediately set in motion to have a large one painted there.Following his sermon one Sunday, he invited anyone who was willing to commit his/her life to Christ to sign the heart. Many did so.Some people might think that this is just a way to attract people to our building, but to us it is a constant reminder to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength and with all your mind and love your neighbor as yourself’ (Luke Êÿfe;-., i if xjf 10:27): remember that “He heals the broken-hearted and bandages their wounds” (Psalm 147:3); “Man looks at the outward appearance but I look at the heart” (1 Samuel 17:7) think about “For your heart will always be where your riches are.” (Luke 12:34) and be thankful “I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart.I will tell of all the wonderful things you have done.I will sing with joy because of you.(Psalm 9:1) Evelyn Lewis, Rector's warden 90th birthday The festivities for Rita
