boards everywhere are looking for solutions to the problem. In the vace of extensive damage to school facilities last year, the Protestant Regional School Board of Western Quebec has Acting on the recommendation of Buildings Committee Chairman Lome Radmore, the board has approved a one-year trail program that will in effect pay students to keep schools free of damage. The incentive program will give School Student's Councils a percentage of the money saved if vandalism is reduced. To put some punch into the effect, the board will use a sliding scale starting at 20% for the first $1,000 saved, increasing by 2% for each additional $1,000.In other words, if a school\u2019s repair bill is reduced by $3,500, the Student\u2019s Council will receive $200 on the first thougsand, $220 on the second thousand, $240 on the third thousand, and $130 (26%) on the final $500, a total of $790.The plan has already been implemented in the schools, and the results will be tabulated semi-annually.Commissioners are hopeful that the system will prove successful, and they may be right. After all, who's going to turn down that kind of money for doing nothing?PONTIAC YEARBOOK DEDICATED
