it’s economic, Through great strides in the education being made available to all regardless of their language, it is becoming more and more possible for people of both languages to get tq the top and make more money if that's their aim in life. This is fixing the roof.More action like this includes the new welfare and unemployment laws which place the emphasis on returning people to the working world where they will have a voice in determining their own futures.Improved language teaching in the schools is also a great step in the right direction which needs to be pursued with more enthusiasm. The movement to improve the French language used In Quebec and particularly in technical fields is another useful work in which the governments are involved. As for this so-called arrogant English minority making it impossible for French people to speak their own language; where in Pontiac can this be witnessed?Where, in Pontiac, The annual two week interruption in publication of THE EQUITY usually causes a lot of people to wonder if they have missed some issues. It also makes some people wonder if their subscriptions have run out.We always get a lot of phone calls, most of them polite but some irate, inquiring why they didn't get their paper.A lot of people complain to their mailmen that their paper wasn’t delivered. This year we decided to make special mention of the holiday in this editorial column to avoid some of this misunderstanding. As for the other work done in the Prmtshop, our customers all know that we will be on holiday until July 27th and have known this for about six weeks and have been checking their supplies « so as not to run short of anything during Straight from the nest, the* eggs a* so warm, Anne Strutt, Jean McDowell, Debbie Pirle and Judy Smith wonder if they might hatch.does anyone "allow" anyone else to speak any language?Pontiac County is in Canada. Also in Ca many other places which, like Pontiac, include people of various languages who get along with each-other without any of them being ashamed of any language.Under the sent system you are a to speak French, English, German, Gaelic or Hebrew if you will, at work or at play. This is good.Right?Pontiac, being our immediate concern, is trying with a great deal of support from THE EQUITY and all other agencies of good will here, to improve its economic situation, especially with relation to its French speaking population. Many of our efforts are at a temporary standstill but we still work and hope.We need a French language Composite school in Fort Coulonge. We need a hospital at Fort Coulonge. We need a welfare office and a social worker in the County - .anywhere ! Then we would also like more industry in the Fort Coulonge area, greater access to our two Provincial Parks, and the latest thinking on the toirist business here is that we should have a number of ftovincial tenting and trailer parks in lower Pontiac so that outdoor holidays can be enjoyed by people who cannot afford to travel great distances. There is no time for fear or bitterness, nor of accusations of such. There is no room for feelings of shame, life is too short for name-calling.The writer of the above letter Is known throughout Pontiac as one of the most strenuous workers on behalf of underprivileged peoples and when after many postponements the welfare and services center is established in Pontiac, it will be largely Pontiac needs like him.People who are willing not only to point out the needs but to work for them.Under our system of government which requires a great deal of work towards obvious needs to be done by unpaid volunteers, it is very good for Pontiac that people of his calibre spend some of their time here.We can’t agree with his opinion of "me supreme arrogance of the English minority" those are just words. His actions speak louder.Kindergarten Outing a photo story by Eva Andai nada are What with the Orange Walk, the Shawvillc Walkathon, The Rotary Barbecue, the Doc Williams Show and forth, this will be an etching two weeks est, Uowed < ?1 f Ui K f M 1 Li e K X it t to % s :
